Someone recently mentioned that they participated in the Family Magic Tour at Walt Disney World and that they thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not know about this particular tour. Yes, it is on the web site, yet so are so many others, right? This Disney tour had not caught our attention, yet yu may know from our letterboxing post that we enjoy scavenger hunts. Thus, when we learned about this tour, of course we wanted to experience it for ourselves. We decided to splurge and book it.
Getting Registered
This particular Disney tour is only available certain days of the week, so you can book a tour for a Monday, Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday. Currently, the tour is only $39. We were surprised to see a Disney tour that low cost. Registering your family or you and your friends for the tour is easy. Simply call 407-WDW-TOUR.
While on the telephone, I asked if Disney offers Annual Passholders a discount for this tour. They do! That was a bonus, and, in the end, it cost all three of us a total of only about $100 for the Family Magic Tour. That was not bad at all!
Meeting Time
We had to arrive at 9:45 for the 10:00 tour. As you may know, it takes a while to get from the parking lot to Magic Kingdom. Plan ahead to arrive on time.
We gathered together near Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. Our tour guide was Emily. She kept telling us that it was her first day. Haha. It was clearly not. There was only one other family of three there for this particular tour. That meant that with us and our tour guide, there were only seven people participating in the Family Magic Tour that morning. Even though the maximum number of people for this tour is only twenty, it was a treat to have an even smaller group. Sometimes the children took turns, and sometimes they worked together. Everyone really got to be a part of the searches and activities throughout the tour.
Here We Go!
We had a mission to accomplish. Someone needed our help, and there were clues all over Magic Kingdom that we needed to find to accomplish our mission. I am not going to tell you who that someone was. Without spoiling the tour for you, here are some of our experiences.
We started the tour before we even left the Town Square Theater. Not only do you have to use your thinker thingee to solve these clues, but some of them also require some sort of activity. Of course, that is part of the fun!
After solving the first clue, we were off on our adventure through the Magic Kingdom! Of course, you know that we had to head up Main Street, U.S.A. and see Cinderella’s Castle because what Disney tour would be complete without a castle?
I will not give away all that we did because I do not want to spoil the tour for you. I will tell you, though, that we hopped.
Yes, some folks were looking at us and clearly wondering what on Earth we were doing. We did not mind, though, because we were having fun.
We found clues. There were a bunch of them in different areas of Magic Kingdom.
We danced because why not?
We…wait. What is up with the dog?
Then there was Tigger. Tigger had nothing to do with the tour, but he was definitely Tiggering around with me!
Break Time
We did the Family Magic Tour during our visit to Walt Disney World for the Grand Opening of Galaxy’s Edge. In case you do not know, that was at the end of August. If you know us, you know that we usually avoid Florida in the summertime, but it was Galaxy’s Edge! Anyway, that being said, it was hot. HOT. Our tour guide, Emily, decided that we would take a ten minute break, grab a drink, have a snack, and rest for a bit.
As we were near Cheshire Cat Cafe, the guys decided to try some of the cat’s famous snacks. The Cheshire Cat Tail was a chocolate chip croissant with icing on top. The Mickey Celebration Strawberry Donut was huge! The two donuts that made the ears were each regular sized donuts, and then the donut that made the head was an oversized donut. This treat was enough for the whole family. Both of these snacks did not disappoint.
Back to the Tour
While enjoying some snacks, our group went back to work on finding those clues to complete our mission. All of the sudden, Peter Pan was there! He was a talkative fellow. He played a game with the group and helped us solve the next clue. We then had to head off to continue our mission, so we could not spend too much time with Peter.
We did, however, take time for pictures! Wait. How many mischief makers do you see in this picture?
A Special Treat
As it was so hot, Emily decided that she was going to take us somewhere special for some time in the air conditioning. The air conditioning felt so good, and it refreshed us so that we could finish the tour — err — mission. I am not going to share a picture of that place because I do not want to spoil it for you, so here is another clue.
You Should Go!
We had a few more clues to follow, and then we finished the tour and completed our mission. Whew! We were happy to be a help to the person who needed us in the first place. The children all had a good time. The adults did, too. We laughed, we bonded, we worked together, and we were at Walt Disney World. Really, how could you go wrong with any of that?
If Disney’s Family Magic Tour is a tour that you have considered, or even if you did not even know about it until now, my family would recommend it. Are you a good sport who likes to enjoy yourself? Book a reservation. Are you a curmudgeonly person who prefers to be cranky? Book yourself a reservation, too, because this Disney tour might be just what you need to put a smile on your face. Remember, you simply call 407-WDW-TOUR.
One More Thing
I almost forgot to mention this one last thing. We got to wish Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse a happy birthday! We signed their birthday book and visited them at Town Square Theater before we said our good-byes and headed off to enjoy some rides!

Wow! This is SUCH an affordable tour!! I definitely want to do this one. I love the attention that was given throughout. Your pictures are fantastic! Thanks for sharing this information!
I never knew Disney had a scavenger hunt! I hope I can take my nephew someday!
Looks like a great time! Thanks for sharing 🙂
This reminds me a bit of when they had the Kim Possible experience. We did that in Epcot and had to travel the world on a mission. I think these are the best ways to really experience a place in a meaningful way! So much more memorable then standing in line for rides. So cool!
What a cool interactive day for the whole family! So cool that it was a small group too. Enjoyed all the pictures, the hug from Mini Mouse was my favorite!
A private VIP tour is on my Disney bucket list. I see plaids all over the parks, so they must be amazing!
Love Disney for sure
I have not ever heard of this tour, but it sounds like a lot of fun! Do you recommend it to families without young kids as well?
Loved this article. Tours are so worth the money. We just did the WORLD Showcase DestiNATIONS discovered tour and absolutely loved it. It’s a lesser known tour as well. Definitely putting this one on the list.
Oh I never heard of this. A fun additional adventure to Disney World for sure. We did the mysteries on the Disney Cruise and we had a blast so my kids would love this too.
I had no idea this existed! What a fun adventure!
This likes like a great way to spend the day at MK. My boys love a good treasure hunt.
Never heard of this. Do you think a group of adults would have fun doing this too?
This sounds like a best kept secret! My son loved the Pirate game in Adventureland and this sounds a little bit like a bigger and better version of that.
This looks like a fabulous tour! The price is reasonable too!
Now, THAT is super awesome! I would love that experience so much. I love that they made it affordable too!
I had no idea about this tour. We will definitely check it out next time we go.
Florida in August – the heat truly is fierce! The tour sounds fun and the snacks looked great! Thx for
Sharing!
This sounded like an amazing tour! Will have to check this out!
This tour is on our list of things to do at Disney. Now that I read about your experience I am totally going to do it. Thanks.
looks like fun! We love spending time at disney
This tour sounds so fun! The children in my family would love this kind of experience.
Wow – this is amazingly affordable for a Disney add-on! I’ll have to see if Disneyland has something similar. It’s a great idea!
Woah, what a fun way to see Disney! I never knew this existed.
I have never heard of this tour either, but it sounds fun! A different way to experience the park for those of us that have been a lot! thanks for sharing
We never knew about this tour. Definitely something we will be checking out. Your pictures were beautiful, thank you for sharing.
This is truly incredible!
I absolutely love the idea of a tour, and it definitely seems like a worthy splurge!
Wow, that is a great price. We have done a few tours and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I have not heard of this one, and look forward to checking it out.
Talk about a lot of fun! Too bad Disney is so far from me. Oh and you had me at the donuts!
My kids would LOVE this!!! So would I, to be honest. LOL
Wow! That tour sounds like fun. I didn’t know Disney offered tours. Thank you 😉
We did this tour back in 2012 when the boys were much younger. We loved every single second of it!! Peter Pan was so interactive, too ~ and just happened to “remember us” from a few days prior when we were storming the park during hurricane type rains. LOL ~ sooo much fun!
