What do you do at the home improvement store?

When we say that we like to find fun wherever we can, we mean it.  That said, of course Boy and I were up for the challenge of a hardware store adventure when we had some free time in Florida.  What would you do if you were wandering around a home improvement store for an hour?  Here is what we did.

First let me say to you…

Boy took a moment to comb my hair because it needed to be just right for the photographic documentation of our home improvement store adventures.  Right?

Did you know that this place has stacks of cushions just waiting to be given homes?  Maybe you will want to consider giving them a new home.  Your old cushions might be happy for the opportunity to retire.  Boy and I had a quick chat and decided to keep those cushions company for a few moments so that they would not feel lonely while waiting for someone to choose them.  We discussed who else might like to join us in creating our own smiles.

We decided to invite our local friend to hop the fence and come to our side to enjoy the day with us.

Before we could decide what to do next, though, she and Boy grabbed some light sabers to battle to see which one of them would get to find the next photographic opportunity.

Looking at this American Gotchic immitation, I am not sure who won that battle.

Boy seems as innocent as an angel.  Does that mean that it was his idea…or that it was not his idea?  Hmm.

Wait.  What is with the bed of wooden fencing?  What did I do?!  It was not my idea!  Was it?

Okay, okay, we probably needed to relax and catch our breath for a few moments.  Thankfully, Boy was able to entertain us with some music.

We certainly enjoyed his performance.  How could we not have?  He is quite the entertainer.

Now that we had that moment to refresh, it was time to get back to the business of building more smiles.

We hurried off to find more ideas!  Also, Boy really likes this picture.

As we discussed our next adventures, we decided that since it was so chilly that we would soak up some of the warmth from the picture of a fire.  Maybe we ought to take the opportunity to go visit the beach.  After all, we were in Florida, right?

Aaah…it is like they have every thing at this place!

It is time to wrap up these adventures because we need to talk about our plans to see Star Wars:  The Last Jedi this week.  Wait.  They even have Star Wars at this store!

Have I said how much I love raising this growing boy.  He brings so much joy to this life!

Boy and I had a seriously amusing day with our dear friend in Florida.  Next time hopefully Richard will be able to join us.  Sadly, on this day, his job interfered with our social life.  Is it not a bummer when that happens?

  1. Not gonna lie – I usually detest having to go to the Home Improvement big box stores. However, I couldn’t help but chuckle at this post, and I’m sure I will recall the fun you had photographed at yours next time I’m stuck at one. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!! ❤️💚❤️

  2. What a unique post! And everyone loves to see children having fun! It took some real creativity to think of this much entertainment in a hardware store! I’ll follow along to see what fun things you guys come up with next! “Boy” is very cute and played a great role!

  3. Nice post. Made me smile. It’s certainly a store I don’t enjoy. Now I’ll have some ideas of how to keep entertained while there. 🙂

  4. I am glad your son plays along. I have always been like that in public and my kids all pretend they don’t know me. lol

  5. How fun! Just goes to show that it’s all about attitude. ANYTHING can be an adventure if you just choose to believe it is.

  6. I think I’ve been doing it all wrong. i usually drag my feet until i find something fun like plants or holiday decorations. Next time i go to lowe’s or home depot will be much more fun 🙂

  7. Oh my gosh! How cute was this! Love it. I’m usually stressed bringing my kids to Home Depot because they get bored and get into things they shouldn’t while we are trying to make decisions. Maybe I should just plan for fun instead!
