Back in 2015, Boy decided to ask for shoes for his birthday. Why does a child need so many shoes, you might ask? Actually, the shoes that he requested were not for himself but to donate. Boy chose to use his birthday — not to get gifts — to serve others. He worked hard, and, in the end, our six-turning-seven year old collected 423 pairs of shoes, nine single shoes, and two medical boots!
Now Boy is turning ten, and he wants to do it again! For his birthday, to do something special as he ages into the double digits, he is asking that people again bring him shoes. Adult shoes, child shoes, any style, any color, any size. Will you help?
If you live in the vicinity of Lake Norman, will you look in your closets and see if you have any shoes that you do not wear and might like to give? Maybe you have shoes that you bought and never wound up wearing. Maybe your child has been growing out of their shoes. This could be an opportunity for you to do a little bit of spring cleaning for a good cause.
Do you work outside of the home? Maybe you could team up with your coworkers and designate a day to bring shoes to the office for Boy. Do you belong to an organization or club? Maybe you would be willing to spread the word there and ask people if they have shoes to give to Boy. Maybe you know of a shoe store that would be willing to give their outdated shoes rather than throwing them away. If you have an idea, please spread the word!

Boy is serious about making this shoe drive a success, but where will the shoes go?
If you are wondering where the shoes will go once they are collected, I can answer that for you! As he did after his birthday in 2015, Boy will be shipping all of the shoes that he collects to a non-profit (501c3) organization called Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty by creating sustainable jobs. They also strive to provide relief with the distribution of shoes and clothes. Giving shoes can help contribute toward health, hope, and happiness, and can keep more items out of our landfills.
With that said, would you like to help with this cause but are not local? You can! Please make a donation of any amount to this non-profit organization to help us cover the costs of shipping the shoes to Soles4Souls. Yes, once Boy has collected all of the shoes, we will send them to Soles4Souls, and believe it or not, that many pairs of shoes can add up to a lot of shipping weight.
Thank you for reading this far. Feel free to share this message and help us spread the word for Boy’s 10th Birthday Shoe Drive. We will let you know how it turns out!

Wow!
This is really good!
Giving is an act of charity, love and sacrifice and should be done often. Well done to your boy and congratulations on the new year..double digits 😊
At first I was like, that’s a lot of shoes for a young boy. But wow, I admire his generosity to donate. I wish I live in the same country and could donate shoes as well. But will have this as a reminder to pay forward instead.

What a great idea! You have raised an amazing kiddo!
What a great concept. From selling we come across shoes all the time, some close to new condition, but of course people want new. Would be great to be able to give them to people who can use and appreciate them. More people need to do this. Great job!
Aww how sweet of him. You’re raising a great child.
